Alfresco living areas are becoming quite popular on the home renovations “food chain” in the Perth area. We love doing them because we can provide a lot of satisfaction for less money than it costs to increase the indoor space in a home. Alfresco living areas can be as simple as a roof over your patio. They can also be a lot more involved.
For example, in November 2011, Fran and David wanted us to build them an alfresco dining and entertainment area where they could have their friends over any time of the year. Their house was on the ocean, so they needed the area to be protected not only from rain but from seabreeze and exposure to the ocean.
They asked us to create an alfresco area which retained their 180-degree ocean view and complimented the rest of their home. We supplied a low deck that covers most of the length of their home. Half of it is enclosed and half of it is under a roof with sliding doors between the ocean breeze and the alfresco area. In the enclosed area, we installed an outdoor kitchen that includes a pizza oven and a BBQ. Seating is on benches or comfortable outdoor furniture.
We added a lot of extra living space to their home, giving them exactly what they wanted, for far less than a home extension would have cost.
