We love home renovation polls. Even though most are nationwide as opposed to being based in Perth, they are still relevant here. While the numbers vary somewhat from poll to poll, there are still a lot of great insights to be gained by reading about them.
This poll comes from a jobs website called ServiceSeeking.com.au. According to the poll of more than 2,200 customers looking for home renovation workers, 20% had no “safety net” or “contingency plan” build into their budgets.
One third of the couples who didn’t have any extra money set aside argued about their renovations. Usually, the arguments were about underestimating the time and money it would take to get their homes renovated. For those who did have a “safety net,” only 18% argued about their home renovations.
The good news is that 65% felt sticking to their budget is extremely important.
Some other stats in the survey: 40% have done at least one entire home renovation. 36% have done kitchen upgrades while 32% have remodeled their bathrooms.
Why Your Home Renovation Budget is Important and What to Do About It
Most of those who tackle home renovations on their own or by hiring their own tradies and acting as project managers tend to underestimate somewhere along the line. We always recommend that amateurs add at least 10% to their projected costs.
Ultimately, though, we recommend that all major home renovations are done by professionals like us at Next Level Extensions. At Next Level Extensions, it starts with award-winning home renovation designer Max Sardi. It continues through an office with more than 70 years of combined experience in the Perth area. It continues further with tradies that we have personally vetted and who are now part of our extended family.
The result is the best home renovation work in the Perth area. Better yet, we always come in on time and on budget. Our final estimates are accurate. There are no surprises. You don’t really have to have a safety net unless you want to add more things after the original work is finished.
