Here are some tips for renovating your bathroom.
2014 National Kitchen and Design Association Design Trends Survey
The above survey was taken of designers who worked on new or renovated bathrooms in 2014. It revealed some startling trends that are good to know. Bathrooms are often neglected, but modernising them is one of the fastest, least expensive methods of creating value in a home.
According to the Design Trends Survey, people are turning away from traditional designs and opting for a variety of contemporary designs. Grey is taking over as the colour scheme of choice in bathrooms, overtaking bone and beige. Home renovators are also choosing polished chrome faucets and white fixtures in contemporary bathrooms.
64% of the designers who responded said they equipped the master bathroom with a soaking tub. The preferred choice was a free-standing, non-jetted bathtub. The designers expect to see more lighting in showers this year. In addition, 70% of the designers equipped showers with benches. They also recommended underfloor heating to keep your feet warm while showering.
Showers are being replaced by whirlpools in many master bathrooms, a trend designers expect to continue this year. Some other features that are becoming popular: quartz vanity tops, porcelain or ceramic floor tiles, open shelving, linen storage cabinets, under mount sinks and wall-hung floating vanities.
