We are able to do most home renovations and home extensions in the Perth area with minimal disruption of your current lifestyle. Especially on a home extension, we are able to keep the work self-contained until the project is nearly finished, then open the doors to your newly-expanded home.
However, renovations often don’t give us that option and you may need to store your belongings elsewhere temporarily. Here are some strategies that have worked well for many of our satisfied customers.
Elsewhere in Your Home
The easiest solution should always be the first you try. Is there anyplace else in your home where you can store your possessions? Be sure to check your insurance policy and have the builder check theirs first in case anything goes wrong.
Someone Else’s Home
Your relatives, friends or neighbours may have some extra space for you to store your belongings on a temporary basis. It could be garage space, a backyard shed, a basement or an attic. It may even be time to pass some family artifacts to the next generation.
Onsite Mobile Self Storage
There are now firms that will place storage “pods” outside of your home for a fee and remove them when you don’t need them anymore. This can get expensive so it works best for short-term storage. Everything is very close by in case you want to get to it or are afraid that it may be damaged elsewhere.
Self Storage Facility
By far, the most popular option is to take your possessions to a self storage facility. Amenities such as climate control and controlled access can make the extra expense worth it. Make sure that you know the terms and conditions of your facility.
